Flood, Fleas and Finances pretty much summed up 2016 for the Corbin family.  I make no bones about 2016 - IT WAS NOT A GOOD YEAR!  In January of 2016 a leaky valve in the tank of the toilet caused a major flood overnight in our home - so bad we had to have every inch of hard wood floor in our home ripped out and replaced!  The ordeal upset my little world having rotating contractors in our house for over a month to repair and replace, moving the ENTIRE contents of the house out to a POD that was in our front yard, and even having to vacate a live in a hotel for a bit while new flooring was put down.  (Hotels are much less fun when you have to entertain two 5 year olds in one room!).  FINALLY it was down and by February we were back in our house.

Then....came March....and Spring...and somehow...FLEAS!!!!  Keep in mind we have no animals, and I detest the outdoors....but somehow, we got FLEAS in the house.  First I found one and thought it odd, vacummed etc...then another...then the girls had multiple bites on their ankles....it was a nightmare!  After 3 - that's THREE - treatments by our pest control company, disposing of every rug in our home, 3 carpet cleanings, moving out of the house (wait, didn't we have to move out of our house in January too for the flood?) and over $2,000 out of pocket - 2 months later we were finally flea free!  I still have nightmares about fleas.  Anytime I itch I look down to make sure it's not a flea!

The year wouldn't be complete without FINANCES!  I was working part time as a contract employee for the board of education - a great gig that allowed me the flexibility to pick up my girls from school in the afternoons and be off when they were out of school.  Only - the Superintendent was running for re-election - and he lost....and since I supported that superintendent...well.....it was doubtful that the new superintendent would want me hanging around doing PR and Marketing since I was such a supporter of his opponent.  So we decided not to renew my contract.  AND on top of that, Brian and his business partner decided to part ways with Brian selling the interest in the company and beginning some new adventures.  Finances - fear of what was coming next - dominated the last half of the year!  So when 2016 was over - needless to say I was ready for it to go buh bye!  But what would 2017 bring?

Seeing as how 2016 was Flood, Fleas and Finances - 2017 had to be better - it had to be!  With a December birthday - I turned 39 in 2016....so do you know what that means?  That means in 2017 I was going to be 40 - 40?  How? I'm still a 25 year old inside....but 40 - ANOTHER F WORD!

SO i was going to make make it my year - only you know what - I failed - ANOTHER F WORD!
January went by - I HATE JANUARY - it's cold and depressing and after Christmas being such a high January is such a low....and then February - ANOTHER F WORD!   Well there's Valentine's and blah blah blah and well - now it's February 23rd  - tomorrow, Feb. 24th will be 10 months until I'm FORTY - so I've let 2 months - of 1/6 of a year go by and i'm not any closer to making this year FABULOUS....so here goes!  With all of these "F" Words - I've decided to chronicle my year of turning 40 - FORTY - I WILL BE FABULOUS when I turn FORTY - but I have a FEELING there will be some FUN, FAILURE, FEAR, and FREAKING Awesome things along the way....but don't worry - bought a dictionary to help me get through the year!

I'm hoping that chronicling on this blog EVERYDAY will help me some accountability!  I am going to make 40 my Freakin' Year!
